Durability

With nature as the great inspiration, durability is certainly high on the Esschert Design agenda.

Pioneer in social return

Esschert Design already applied social feedback long before the term became fashionable. Since 2009, Esschert Design has had a group of young people and employees with disabilities who carry out all kinds of jobs and have joined our staff. To give this group a firm position in society, we have started a training program. At this time, the group consists of twelve people who are trained by a special job coach.

Practices

We offer internships to students. As an officially certified Beroepsonderwijs Bedrijfsleven training company, we offer students from the creative industries the opportunity to gain experience in, among other things, graphic and industrial design and styling. As we are also recognized by the Knowledge Center for Trade, our doors are always open to trainees pursuing professional training in trades. Throughout the year we facilitate projects for one or more scholarship holders.

Corporate Social Responsibility

BSCI

Esschert Design is a member of BSCI, the Business Social Compliance Initiative, which expects its suppliers to follow the BSCI code of conduct. In this conduct, the BSCI describes the principles of social entrepreneurship towards employees. Some examples are: reasonable wages and hours of work, prohibition of forced labor, child labor and discrimination, right of association and a healthy and safe workplace.

FSC

The Forest Stewardship Council® promotes responsible stewardship of the world's forests. Its main tools to achieve this are standard setting, certification and labeling of forest products. The FSC chain of custody (CoC) system enables the tracking of FSC certified material from the forest to the consumer. companies with FSC chain of custody certification are allowed to use FSC brands and labels to promote their products. The FSC label therefore provides a link between responsible production and responsible consumption and helps the consumer to make socially and environmentally responsible purchasing decisions. Esschert Design has an official FSC certificate.

For each product it is indicated in the web shop whether it is FSC® certified products. It is also possible to filter it in our store.

Waste management

Esschert Design tries to separate your waste as much as possible. Plastic, paper, metal, wood, and glass are precisely separated. Thanks to this separation, our average volume of remaining waste is less than 1CBM per week.

Werkpakt

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS AWARDED

A central aspect of the city of Enschede's labor market policy is social entrepreneurship. For entrepreneurs who are distinguished by their social entrepreneurship, the City Council has a brand: Werkpakt (EN: Workpact). Werkpakt employers recognize the talent of (long-term) job seekers, offer them perspective and translate it into success with corporate social responsibility.

Work & Balance project

The Work & Balance project has been completed successfully. This project was made possible thanks to the European Social Fund of the European Union. The reason for this project was related to the sustainable employability of the staff. Good entrepreneurship was critical in this case. The objective of the project was to promote healthy work by reducing work stress. The goal for the future is to focus even more on reducing work stress and to further anticipate individual ambitions.
